Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill

Registration Closed

We are no longer accepting registrations to participate in the OMA advocacy day. If you are interested in getting more involved in advocacy, consider joining the Obesity Medicine Association's advocacy committee. The committee enrollment period is taking place now through October 15, 2018. (You must be an OMA member to join a commitee.)

Advocacy Day Schedule

If you are a registered participant, please make note of the following important information about the OMA advocacy day.

Date: September 27
Time: Meet in the Georgetown Room at the Washington Hilton by 7:30 AM

Prior to the OMA advocacy day, you will receive a series of emails with advocacy resources and guides. Review these materials thoroughly, so you are prepared when you arrive. You will also receive a link to a recorded webinar to brief you on your talking points and initiatives.

On September 27, meet in the Georgetown Room at the Washington Hilton by 7:30 AM. Here you will pair up with your teams, meet your team leader, and get your schedules for the day. A shuttle will take you to Capitol Hill at 9:00 AM.

Once your meetings are completed for the day, you are free to explore the city or return to the Washington Hilton. Transportation back to the hotel will not be provided. There will not be a return shuttle to the Washington Hilton, so we encourage you to share a taxi, Uber, or Lyft with your group. Return trip costs are your responsibility.

Please notify us promptly if you need to cancel your registration because OMA will have scheduled meetings with your state's congressional delegation on your behalf. Not showing up for these meetings will reflect poorly on OMA and could negatively impact our ability to access these offices in the future.

Please note: The advocacy day on Capitol Hill runs concurrently with the Review Course for the ABOM Exam and the Building an Obesity Treatment Plan Workshop on Thursday, Sept. 27.
